The parable

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

A shepherd leaves ninety-nine sheep to find one. Why the arithmetic is the point, what the parable declines to tell us, and how Matthew's version differs.

Product details

The Lost Sheep Christian Hoodie

The The Lost Sheep engraving printed on a heavy-blend hoodie — double-lined hood, front pouch, and enough weight to be the thing you actually reach for.

Drawn from The Parable of the Lost Sheep — Luke 15:4-6 — and printed to order on a blank chosen for how it wears, not how cheaply it prints.

The Parable Behind the Design

Ninety-nine sheep are safe. One is not. The shepherd leaves the ninety-nine in the open country and goes after the one that is missing until he finds it.

The arithmetic is deliberately bad. No sensible herdsman risks the flock for a single animal — which is the whole reason Jesus tells it that way.

And when the shepherd finds it he does not drive it back. He lifts it onto his shoulders, carries it home, and calls the neighbours in. Luke 15:4-6 is about being carried, not corrected.

After the one.

The One That Gets Worn Out

The double-lined hood is the detail worth paying attention to: it holds its shape instead of collapsing flat after a few washes, which is what separates a hoodie you keep from one you replace.

The pouch pocket and ribbed waistband do the rest. This is the everyday layer — the one that ends up on the back of a chair rather than in a drawer.

The engraving shows the shepherd on the return — the sheep across his shoulders, the rough country he crossed to reach it falling away behind him.
