Luke 15:3-7

He Left the Ninety-Nine

"What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?"

It's a strange math. You don't risk ninety-nine for one — unless every single one matters.

The shepherd goes after you

The lost sheep doesn't find its own way home. The shepherd goes. He searches "until he find it," lifts it onto his shoulders, and carries it back rejoicing. The whole tone of the story is relief and celebration, not scolding.

You are the one

It's easy to read this as a story about other people — the strays, the prodigals. But the point of the parable is that you are the one He'd leave the ninety-nine for. There is joy in heaven over one.

Our Ninety-Nine tee carries that line — a quiet reminder that you were worth the search.
